The Department of Neurobiology welcomes Austin Coley, Ph.D. as New Faculty
The Department of Neurobiology welcomes Austin Coley, Ph.D. as a new faculty Assistant Professor of Neurobiology effective July 1, 2024. His Ph.D. (2019) was in Neuroscience from Drexel University where he was advised by Dr. Wen-Jun Gao. Since 2019, Dr. Coley was appointed as a postdoctoral fellow investigating the neuronal populations and neural circuits implicated in anhedonia, and focusing on the neural substrates that influence synaptic function and behavior. Dr. Coley also held an Adjunct Instructor at the University of California, San Diego in Cellular Neuroscience. In his UCLA appointment his research will focus on prefrontal cortical circuitry related to anhedonia (loss of pleasure), a symptom of depression and schizophrenia. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Coley to the UCLA neuroscience community.
